Prompto had mentioned that before- defending his dad, pulling the gun on the emperor. It was as wild then as it was hearing it again, but after Prompto shielded him back on the truck, he could buy it. If his dad had been willing to guide Prompto down that corridor to seek safety, either he'd been desperate enough to accept the help or Prompto had endeared himself that Regis had wanted to save him, too. And that sure sounded like something his father would do.

There was a harsh difference between knowing what must have happened and hearing what did happen, however. Noct's hands hovered over the feather without doing anything with it yet, his shoulders hunched, head bowed as Prompto finished. Glauca. Of course it was him, again.

"I know Glauca," he said harshly, trying not to sound as angry as he felt. It wasn't Prompto's fault, it wasn't like he did it. But that man... it was personal, back then and now. "He came after us when I was a kid, over in Tenebrae. He killed Luna's mom." His fingers clenched, knuckles going white, and he forced them to unclench lest they drew his own blood. "The man he killed was Clarus Amicitia, the king's Shield. Gladio's father."

And an uncle to him in all but name; the Amicitia family was near as much his family as his own father. The thought of him taken down by that monster, a masked man too cowardly to even show his face, left to die in the Citadel without his king... he'd have hated it. He suspected Gladio will want to have a talk with the king before too long, get the full story from the source. Perhaps spare a moment to mourn with the man who cherished and admired his father just as much as Gladio did. Gods, but he hoped Iris at least made it out. He'd checked his phone at least two dozen times over the course of the evening already, but not so much as a single text.

He leaned back in his chair, abandoning the feather until he could at least calm down a little. He wouldn't be able to focus on the magic like this.
